Rebel Salute Foundation

Rebel Returns to the communities

Patrick Barrett  has been heavily involved in several local communities throughout his career as the recording artiste known as Tony Rebel. It is no surprise that as a promoter, he along with the Rebel Salute team, have always taken the initiative to support persons and institutions in need. They have donated to various causes including persons seeking medical treatment and providing schools with much needed equipment. The decision to start a Foundation was therefore a natural transition to formalize these efforts.

Over the years, the Rebel Salute Foundation did most of its work quietly, adhering to this Biblical principle when pursuing philanthropic endeavours: ” …so that your giving be in secret: and thy Father which seeth in secret himself shall reward thee openly ” – St. Matthew 6:4

The younger generation of the Rebel Salute movement, however, felt it was time to organize and structure efforts to improve the reach, impact and scope of what was largely an ad-hoc process. The Teach the Children Scholarship became our flagship programme, and one that we hope other like-minded persons and organizations can get behind.

With over twenty years of impacting various generations to the fundamentals as well as the evolution of reggae music, Rebel Salute has provided an educational platform for highlighting Jamaican culture and music. This significance of our efforts for music and cultural expression laid the groundwork for the outreach programmes we undertake under the banner of the Rebel Salute Foundation.

The Rebel Salute Foundation, through its “Teach the Children Scholarship” programme, has supported students  from the Marcus Garvey Technical High School over the years. The school – located in the festival’s adopted parish of St. Ann and named after a man whose principles that are hold dear – is just 5 minutes from our event home in Priory.

It is the Foundation’s intention to continue to increase the scope of aiding in Jamaica’s development. Ultimately, our goal is to create sustainable outreach programmes in the areas of music, healthy living and environmental protection.

Welcome to the Jam-Care Cancer Society and Rebel Salute Foundation Health Initiative

We are excited to announce a powerful new partnership between the Jam-Care Cancer Society and the Rebel Salute Foundation, aimed at improving the health and well-being of our communities. Together, we are committed to raising awareness about prostate cancer and offering critical health services to individuals across Jamaica.

Prostate Cancer Awareness and PSA Testing: Saving Lives Through Early Detection

Our main focus is on prevention, education, and empowerment. As part of our efforts, we will be offering Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) testing across the island.

What is PSA testing, and why is it important?

PSA testing is a simple blood test that measures the level of Prostate-Specific Antigen in the blood. Elevated PSA levels can indicate the presence of prostate cancer or other prostate conditions. Early detection through PSA testing is vital, especially for men over 40 or those with a family history of prostate cancer. Detecting issues early can significantly improve treatment outcomes and save lives.

Education and Support

We understand that knowledge is the key to prevention, which is why we will also have an Information Desk staffed with professionals ready to answer your questions about prostate cancer, PSA testing, and other health concerns. This will be a hub for education and encouragement, providing the information needed to make informed health choices.

Get Involved

This initiative would not be possible without the support of healthcare professionals, volunteers, and the teams behind the Jam-Care Cancer Society and the Rebel Salute Foundation. We thank all of our partners for their dedication to building a healthier Jamaica.
